Remember when most websites had centered text and lots of horizontal lines? It was a great thing in 1994 but times change.

Technologies grow...

Did you know computer screens have grown? Most sites used to be designed for screens that were 800 pixels wide. Now 1024 and 1280 screens are the most popular. If your site looks too narrow compared to other sites, it may be optimized for an older screen width.

Coding practices change: table-based layout was a standard several years ago but now best-practice advocates recommend CSS layouts for faster download.

These are just two examples but there are many more ways that web practices have changed. The pace of technology is fast and a good website doesn't fall too far behind.
